My Priorities
Community Engagement
The best decisions are made when everyone has a seat at the table. As a city council member, I will prioritize community engagement and make sure that the voices of all Kent residents are heard.
Sustainable Development
We need to balance the growth of our city with the need to protect our environment. I will work to ensure that new development is sustainable and that we preserve the natural beauty of Kent.
Fiscal Responsibility
As a taxpayer myself, I know how important it is to make sure that our city is spending our tax dollars wisely. I will work to ensure that our city budget is balanced and that we are investing in the right areas to support Kent's community.
Homeless crisis
We cannot ignore the growing homeless crisis in our city. I believe we need a comprehensive approach that addresses the root causes of homelessness and provides meaningful support to those who are struggling. This includes increasing access to affordable housing, mental health and addiction services, and job training programs.
Keeping You Safe
Calls to defund the police were irresponsible. The primary purpose of local government is to keep you safe. I will work to make sure the Kent Police Department has the highest policing standards in the country. I believe police officers need to be out in the community engaging with our residents and building trust. Our police officers also need to maintain high training standard so they can successfully deescalate contentious situations they encounter.
Management Experience
At Boeing I led a team that ensured and inspected wiring, electronics, and other components inside passenger cabins. I will put this experience to work to make sure the City of Kent delivers high quality customer service.
Combating Illegal Drug Use
I know that treatment is the best way to solve our drug problem. It’s cheaper than jail. I support offering mandatory treatment to drug offenders as an alternative to detaining them. As a trained drug counselor, I will use my experience to make Kent safer.
